The nationally recognized campaign known as Small Business Saturday falls on November 30th this year. Started by American Express back in 2010, its objective is to remind people in communities like Bloomfield to support small, independent business during the holiday season, starting on the day after Black Friday. For the last three years, the Bloomfield Center Alliance has promoted the "shop local" concept by participating in the American Express program and encouraging residents and visitors to shop in various stores serving our community. With Small Business Saturday right around the corner, the BCA once again reminds everyone to shop in Bloomfield Center this holiday season. There are a number of retail shops in Downtown Bloomfield selling products and services to the local community. They include the following: Arlene's Bridal Salon, Civilized Nation, J. T. Murdoch Shoes, Jalapeno Cycling, Save and Rave Consignment, Shine Custom Jewelry, and Vega Palace Jewelry. A few of them will have special discounts and sales on Small Business Saturday and distributing "Shop Small" branded canvas bags that day to shoppers.
