Looking forward to 2018

02-15-2018

Bloomfield Center continued its slow, but steady transformation in 2017. Change, especially the positive kind, rarely happens fast enough, but our downtown is definitely moving forward in many ways. Here's why our arc is truly one of progress and is absolutely leading us to more good things to come . . . New retail businesses are calling Bloomfield Center home including (but not limited to) Jalapeno Cycling, Satis Bistro, Crossfit Press On, Mangia Organica, The Wooden Spoon Southern Kitchen and Saloon, and Play Money Goods opened their doors to serve this community and are bringing new faces to the area. The important and long overdue cleanup of the Lackawanna Train Station got off the ground, along with the first steps toward the anticipated beautification of the "gateway" intersection at Bloomfield Avenue and the Garden State Parkway on/off ramps. Additionally, thousands of people came to Bloomfield Center last year to experience good food, cool music, and the arts through various events, including the brand new Dinner under the Stars summer series that will be returning this year! On behalf of our board and staff, I want to thank everyone who joined us at one or more of our events, shopped and dined in our local businesses, and expressed support of all our efforts. Like all of you, we believe very much in Bloomfield Center's promising future. We look forward to working with our various partners and stakeholders in continuing the progress and helping our downtown reach its full potential. I can say that there will be some big announcements, new faces and exciting initiatives coming this year. We can't wait to share all the positive things in store as they evolve and "develop." Stay tuned by following us on Facebook or visiting our website often. We hope to see you at some point in 2018! Ollyn J. Lettman, MPA Executive Director
